RELIGIOUS DENOMINATIONS

  • Pasadena is home to Fuller Theological Seminary, one of the largest multi-denominational seminaries in the world. Fuller provides students with a university-style education in its Schools of Theology, Intercultural Studies, and Psychology. The seminary is widely known for its racial and denominational diversity, with more than 4,300 students from over 67 countries and over 108 denominations.

  • The Hsi Lai Temple exists to connect the East and the West. Its founder, the Venerable Master Hsing Yun, is known for promoting Humanistic Buddhism, which according to the organization's Web site 'embraces all traditions and schools and stresses the salient teachings of the Buddha.'Mission

  • San Gabriel Archangel Mission is rich in the history and traditions of early California. It was the fourth of 21 California missions founded. In the early mission era, it grew into a mission called the "Pride of the Missions," for its large production of crops and trading of cattle hides and wine.

  • The Islamic community in the San Gabriel Valley is established, though it's not as large as in some other areas in the United States. But its voice is growing, especially at Masjid Gibrael, a mosque on Las Tunas Street in San Gabriel.
